Prof. Dr. Matthias Jahn holds the chair for Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Philosophy of Law and Business Criminal Law at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, where he also runs the Institute for Business Criminal Law (Institut für das Gesamte Wirtschaftsstrafrecht, IGW).
He is member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journals Strafverteidiger, Zeitschrift für Wirtschaftsstrafrecht und Haftung in Unternehmen and Sport und Recht.
After having obtained his Doctorate and Habilitation at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, he has been research assistant at the Bundesverfassungsgericht in the Department of Vice-President Prof. Dr. Winfried Hassemer and held a Professorship for Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nuremberg (2005-2013).
His research focuses on procedural criminal law (inter alia on undercover operations and plea-bargaining practices), anti-money laundering law, corporate criminal law and constitutional criminal law.
Besides his professorial activities, since 2014 he serves as a Judge at the Higher Criminal Court of Hessia (Oberlandesgericht) in Frankfurt am Main and also has an outside appointment as a Judge at the Oberlandesgericht of Nuremberg.
